What is a CTE course?

A CTE course is a high school elective class. To participate in official DECA conferences (Norcal, SCDC, and ICDC), students must be enrolled in a CTE pathway, as mandated by California DECA. If you have any questions about it, feel free to reach out.

Is a CTE course required to join DECA?

A CTE course is NOT required to join DECA. We have a variety of auxiliary programs for both non-CTE and CTE members, such as Diamond Consulting and the National Economic Challenge (NEC).

What are auxiliary programs?

Auxiliary programs consist of activities separate from official DECA conferences (only CTE members can participate in official DECA conferences) and are managed by Irvington DECA. Our current auxiliary programs include the National Economics Challenge (NEC) and Diamond Consulting. Please see the Auxiliary section on our website for more information.

Why join DECA?

DECA provides students with countless opportunities to grow their leadership skills, gain real-world business experience, make unforgettable memories, and much more!

How much time will I have to put in for DECA?

It mostly depends on your effort. Some aspects require a significant amount of work, but how much time you put into each assignment is completely up to you!

Where can I receive updates?

You can receive regular updates about upcoming events or other activities from our Instagram and Facebook pages.

When are DECA meetings?

Irvington DECA will hold weekly workshops. At these workshops, students will learn useful business skills and concepts for their future!
